Jeanie Marie Buss is an American businesswoman. She is currently the president and owner-controller of the Los Angeles Lakers in the National Basketball Association. Buss was born in California and grew up part of a wealthy family. Jerry Buss is her father. He was a real estate tycoon before becoming the manager of Lakers, among other businesses. Her parents divorced in 1972. split together and she felt abandoned. She joined her family's business at the age of 19 as general manager for the Los Angeles Strings tennis team. In the following years, she created the Los Angeles Blades roller hockey professional team. She held the position of president of Great Western Forum prior to becoming vice-president for the Lakers. Buss along with her five brothers and sisters and their father, who owned the Lakers and ruled them until his death in 2013, took over the ownership via an estate. They each were entitled to the same voting rights. In 2013, she took charge of the Los Angeles Lakers. Buss is also co-owner in Women of Wrestling a pro-wrestling promotion that is based at Los Angeles.
